Rabun Gap ready to play Football in New Stadium

The Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School Eagles kick off their home football schedule in a new stadium Saturday afternoon.  Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School Athletic Director Dale Earnhardt says everyone is excited to play football in the new competition stadium complex.  “Well, I can’t tell you how excited I am.  After 14 years of being here and starting the program in 2009 and now seeing a stadium come to fruition.  It’s been pretty exciting for me personally over the last two months.  The stadium will seat about 850 people, it is just on the home side right now but we have a press box and a place to get up on the roof so coaches and video people can get up there.  So, we’re excited.  We are actually having the track surface touched up this week, so that is going to be a new touch that will be ready for Saturday’s game.  So, we are really excited to see it.  We hate that it happened in the COVID-19 era so we are not going to have a full stadium but our State Association is allowing two parents for every senior player for the home team.  So, we will have a handful of people there so it will seem more like a game than some of these road games have the first couple of weeks.”  The Rabun Gap Eagles welcome the Cabarrus Warriors for a 2pm varsity football game on Saturday.  Home to soccer, football, track & field, and lacrosse, the stadium offers an exciting environment to cheer on the Eagles.  Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School is a private, coeducational day and boarding school for grades Pre-K through 12.
