Rabun Gap Man killed in Crash on Highway 441 in Clayton

A Rabun Gap man was killed in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 441 and Old 441 North in Clayton Monday morning, July 31, 2023.  The Georgia State Patrol reports that 58-year-old Francis Hanrahan crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a tractor-trailer near the Farm Bureau Insurance Office at 9:43am.  Troopers said that he died of his injuries at the scene and the driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries.  Both vehicles had disabling damage and Highway 441 was shut down for over three hours while crews worked the scene.  The highway reopened around 1:30pm.
