Rabun Gap Eagles caged by Knights

On a heartbreaking final play, the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School Eagles varsity football team lost to the Charlotte Christian Knights in the state semifinals of the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association (NCISAA) playoffs on Friday, November 11, 2022.  Here’s the voice of Rabun Gap varsity football on Real Country 100.3, Peyton Brady with a recap of the game.  “Starting off the game strong, #1 Trey Horne takes it to the house with a 79-yard rushing touchdown making the score 7-0 in Rabun Gap’s favor.  A punt is blocked, which results in a Charlotte Christian touchdown and they tie up the game 7-7.  A 26-yard field goal by Charlotte Christina makes the score 10-7 Charlotte Christina in the lead.  A 5-yard touchdown pass by Charlotte Christina results in a score of 17-7.  A 20-yard touchdown pass by Charlotte Christian makes the score 24-7.  A rushing touchdown by #1 Trey Horne closes Charlotte Christian’s lead making the score 24-14.  A 19-yard field goal scored by Charlotte Christian makes the score 27-14 going into halftime.  Starting off the third quarter strong, a 15-yard touchdown run by #2 Walker Bryson makes the score 27-21.  A 25-yard rushing touchdown by #1 Trey Horne puts Rabun Gap back in the lead 28-27.  A 25-yard field goal made by #34 Jacob Day in the fourth quarter makes the score 31-27.  On the final play of the game, Charlotte Christian has a 19-yard touchdown pass to clinch the win and a trip to the state championship.  The final score of the game 33-31 Charlotte Christian School will take home this win.  For Real Country 100.3, this is Peyton Brady.”  With the loss, the Eagles end their season with an 8-4 record.
