Rabun County Schools add More Students

More students are attending schools in Rabun County this year compared to last.  Official enrollment numbers were recently released for the school district and Superintendent Dr. April Childers says they have grown.  “We are excited about our enrollment and compared to last October we are up 80 students. Our current enrollment system-wide is 2,313 students.”  Adding a new Pre-K program seems to be beneficial, adds Dr. Childers. “We did add a new Pre-K this year, which added 22 additional four-year-old options for parents and that class is full already with a waiting list.  It was a great opportunity for our families to be able to get their kids started at four.” Dr. Childers gives the official enrollment numbers for the 2019-20 school year at the primary level, elementary school, middle school, and high school.  “Our primary school’s current enrollment is 614 students and that does include Pre-K. Our elementary is 678 students. The middle school is at 355 students and the high school is at 667 students.” The safety of all students continues to be a top priority, says Dr. Childers.  “We are off to a great start. We’re focusing on safety student achievement and relationships this year. Our first home football game is this Friday night.” To learn more about Rabun County Schools, visit www.rabuncountyschools.org.
