Rabun County High School holds In-Person Graduation

After months of waiting due to the coronavirus, Rabun County High School was able to hold a traditional in-person graduation for the Class of 2020 on Saturday night, August 1.  Rabun County High School Principal Justin Spillers says it was a great night for students and the community.  “We had a great turnout from our community and our students.  We actually offered two different options.  The first was an individual option where students were able to bring as many of their family and friends as they wanted and we held that in the FAB.  They signed up for a specific time and so we had them walk across the stage, we announced their graduation, and celebrated with them.  Then they were able to take pictures both on the stage with their family and go down and ring the bell.  We had about 15 students who participated in that option.  It was a great event and we sanitized in between each group and were able to adhere to social distancing and some precautions there.  Then we had a more traditional or what families and students are accustomed to that evening at 8pm in Frank Snyder Memorial Stadium and we had about 55 students who participated in that.  We had a great time and it was just what you would expect from a traditional graduation with some social distancing put in place to make sure we protected our community and our students but it was an overall great day and a great way to send the Class of 2020 off in style.”  Principal Spillers gives the Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the Class of 2020.  “Our Valedictorian was Ali Ramey, our Salutatorian was Will Hightower, and our Historian was Mason Sprinkle.  Then our Wildcat Pride Award Winners were Dylan Long and Will Hightower.  This is something that is voted on by our faculty and staff and we take a look at the students’ four-years with us and we look and see who expedited those characteristics of respect, character, honor, service, and who exemplifies what it means to have Wildcat pride.”  Congratulations again to the Rabun County High School Class of 2020 and best of luck in your future endeavors.
