Rabun County Football Rec Night set

The Rabun County Recreation Department will hold Rec Night again this year and Athletic Director Adam Dixon says it will be a special night at Frank Snyder Memorial Stadium before a varsity home football game.  “Football and cheer registration has closed.  We have our schedules being worked on now.  Rec Night is set, that’s the ESPN game is Rec Night.  So, it’s on a Saturday.  It will be an earlier game time.  So, a new thing for us.  Hopefully, it will be a huge crowd and fun for the kids.  Then our season will start in early September as far as the games go.  Practices will start in the next couple of weeks.  So, we have to do on the football side an acclimation period to protect the kids, get them out there with just helmets or even no helmets running around getting used to the heat and making sure they drink enough and then we throw the pads on them a week or so later.  We try not to rush into it.”  The Rabun County Recreation Department’s Rec Night is planned for Saturday, August 28, before the Wildcats’ game against Pace Academy.
