Rabun County Deputy makes Drug Arrest

A deputy with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested an Elberton woman on drug charges after a traffic stop.  According to the incident report, a silver Ford Taurus was observed crossing over the white center line and a traffic stop was initiated at the Twenty Penny gas station on Georgia 15.  While approaching the vehicle, the deputy smelled marijuana. The occupant, 56-year-old Sandra Jean Butler, was asked to exit the vehicle and then gave the deputy permission to search the car.  The deputy discovered a gun under the driver’s seat, a gun in the glove box, and a marijuana cigarette. Butler was then arrested for DUI, failure to maintain lane, possession of marijuana, and illegal possession of a controlled substance.  She was booked into the Rabun County Detention Center.
