Rabun County Commission approves Amendment to Fees for Building Permits

It will now be a little more expensive to build or rezone in Rabun County. An amendment to the current fee schedule for fees to building permits and rezoning applications has been approved, explains Rabun County Planning and Zoning Administrator Shylan Wood. “It was brought to the attention of the Planning and Zoning Board back at the end of last year that the fee schedule had not been updated recently. Looking back through our records it was found that the fee schedule had not been updated since 2011. After extensive research and looking at what the surrounding counties were charging in the ways of their fees and things of that nature, the Planning and Zoning Board sat down and collectively came up with a fee schedule that they believe will be more in line with what surrounding counties are charging in the ways of their fees. They’re affordable still but they are keeping in line with what is going on around us and the growth that we are experiencing.” The Rabun County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the new fees at their monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
