Rabun Co. Tax Commissioner’s Office reopens

The Rabun County Tax Commissioner’s Office has reopened.  The office was forced to close due to the Coronavirus, but it is now accepting visitors, explains Lauren Benfield, Chief Deputy of the Rabun County Tax Commissioner’s Office.  “At this time for your safety and ours, we will only be allowing two people in the office at a time to conduct business.  Myself or another staff member will meet you outside the doors to verify your documents and ensure a faster process at the counter.  Please expect longer wait times and bear with us as we adjust to this new normal.  We will still be conducting business over the phone, so you can still call us and we can still renew your tags over the phone.  Please remember that you will need your driver’s license as a driver’s license is required for all motor vehicle transactions.  Thank you for being patient with us during the time of our closure and we look forward to serving you.”  The Rabun County Tax Commissioner’s Office is located at 19 Jo Dotson Circle, Suite 101, in downtown Clayton.  The phone number is 706-782-3613.
