Rabun Co. Schools preparing for End of School Year

Rabun County Schools Superintendent Dr. April Childers recently sent out a letter to students, parents, teachers, and staff concerning preparations for the end of the current school year amid the Coronavirus.  Several dates have been designated for action to close out the academic year ahead of schedule.  May 6, 2020, will be the final day for new material and instruction. On May 13, all student work is due.  For students needing to turn in paper assignments, those can be dropped off at any food distribution location, the Board of Education, or the High School front gate during regular school hours.  From May 14-22, remediation and optional enrichment will be held for students who are struggling in subjects.  You are encouraged to reach out and let your school know, so it can arrange additional help for them.  For students who still have personal items inside the school building, a detailed schedule for pick-up of materials and other belongings will be provided once the Governor’s Executive Order for the shelter-in place is lifted. Personal items may include yearbooks, student desk and locker contents, etc.  A detailed schedule for returning chromebooks will be provided once the Governor’s Executive Order for the shelter-in place is lifted as well.  For students in the Class of 2020, a virtual graduation will take place on May 22, and a live graduation is scheduled for August 1.  Report cards will be mailed during June. K-8 students will receive notification of grade placement on their report card. Placement for students in grades 9-12 will be based on the number of credits earned. Check your Parent PowerSchool portal for current grades and missing assignments.  The current schedule of meal distribution will continue until May 22, 2020. Details about summer meal distribution will be coming soon.
