Rabun Co. Residents applying for Absentee Ballots

As the May 24th General Primary Election draws closer, Rabun County residents are applying for absentee ballots, says Rabun County Elections and Voter Registration Director Tammy Whitmire.  “Close to 100 people have already sent in their application and they have requested an absentee ballot.  You can continue to do that; you just have to call the office, 706-782-1878 and request that we send you the application for an absentee ballot.  Once we get that absentee ballot application back in the office, we will begin sending out those ballots on April 25.  So, that will be the first day that we will actually get to mail the ballots out.  So, you have plenty of time to continue to call.  You can also go on your MyVoter page and request an application there.  But anyway, that we can help people get that absentee ballot, if you want to vote that way, just call the office and we can walk you through that process.”  March 7, was the first day to apply for an absentee ballot.  The last day to register to vote in the election is April 25, and early voting begins on May 2.
