Rabun Co in Need of Foster Homes

Rabun County DFCS is looking for local families willing to be foster homes, according to DFCS Director Renota Free…

“We want to set our goal high. Currently we have 8 foster homes that are open. We would like to have 20 foster homes that are open in Rabun County.”

Free says there is a particular need of foster homes for babies…

“We could use homes that can take babies right now. This has never been an issue for us in the past, but as of late, we seem to have more infants coming in to our care than we have placements ready for them.”

Rabun Department of Human Services is offering Orientation/Information for families who may be interested in how to become an approved Foster Home…

“We welcome any family that’s interested to come to our orientation. There’s no prerequisite what so ever. Just come on in and have your questions ready, and we welcome everyone that’s interested.”

The orientation will be June 19th, at 5:30, at 128 Hiawassee St in Clayton.
