Rabun Co. designated Wooden Boat Capital of Georgia

Rabun County is the Wooden Boat Capital of Georgia.  At their monthly meeting Tuesday night, the Rabun County Board of Commissioners was presented with a resolution adopted by the Georgia General Assembly, explains Rabun County Commission Chairman Greg James.  “Well it is very appropriate and it’s exciting that we have that designation.  Being a native of Rabun County, I knew there were wooden boats on the lakes but I didn’t realize that between the three major lakes we have over 200 wooden boats, so it almost seems natural for that designation.  I’ve got to give credit to Andrew Harris and the Lake Burton Civic Association, they worked with our representative to get this statewide designation and at the meeting, they did a resolution and gave us the framed copy of those resolutions from both the House and the Senate.  We’re very thankful and proud for this designation for Rabun County.”  The framed designations will soon be displayed at the Rabun County Courthouse for the public to admire.
