Qualifying underway for Clarkesville City Council Special Election

The City of Clarkesville will conduct a Special Election on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, from 7am to 7pm for the purpose of electing the office of City Council Member of the City of Clarkesville being Post 5, which will be elected at large for an unexpired term of approximately two years and nine months beginning on or about April 1, 2023, through December 31, 2025, with said seat currently vacant, due to the resignation of Brendon
Ansley.  The qualifying period opened on Monday, January 30, 2023, and will
continue through Friday, February 3, 2023. The hours of qualifying each day shall be from Monday– Thursday, 8:30am until 4:30pm (except for a one-hour lunch break) and Friday, 8:30am until noon.  The qualifying fee for the seat of Council Member is $18. Prospective candidates may qualify at the Habersham County Office of Elections and Voter Registration, Habersham County Administrative Building located at 130 Jacob’s Way, Suite 101, Clarkesville, Georgia 30523. All qualified candidates that live within the City of
Clarkesville are encouraged to run.  The last day to register to vote in the March 21, 2023, Special Election is February 21, 2023.
