Proposed Property Tax Increase in Rabun County

The Rabun County Board of Commissioners has tentatively adopted a 2022 millage rate that will require an increase in property taxes by 11.14 percent. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the Rabun County Courthouse, 25 Courthouse Square in Clayton, on August 11, 2022, at 8am and 6pm. An additional public hearing on this tax increase takes place at the Rabun County Courthouse, 25 Courthouse Square in Clayton on August 18, 2022, at 5pm. This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 9.928 mills, an increase of 0.995 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 8.933 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $175,000 is approximately $67.66 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $175,000 is approximately $69.65.
