Planned Controlled Burns in Rabun County

The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) will conduct controlled burns in Rabun County on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, and Wednesday, April 12, 2023.  Roach Mill Road is scheduled for Tuesday and it is located in the Warwoman area next to the DNR Check Station on Finney Creek Road.  Finney Creek Road will be closed for 1-2 days for public safety while the burn is underway and while they extinguish any hot spots afterwards.  If weather permits, the USFS will continue with Bramlet Ridge Road on Wednesday.  This burn is located west of Moccasin Creek State Park and the Lake Burton Fish Hatchery, along Wildcat Road.  The Hemlock Falls Trail will be temporarily closed for public safety while the USFS conducts the burn and potentially for a day afterwards.  Smoke will be visible in Rabun County during these controlled burns.
