Plane Crash in Habersham Kills Three Onboard

In an updated story from AccessWDUN.com, Federal investigators now say there were three people on board a small plane that crashed near Baldwin in Habersham County Thursday morning.  All are confirmed dead. Initially, authorities believed only the pilot was on board the single-engine craft, but investigators confirm they have recovered the remains of three people.

At a press conference at the Habersham County Airport, investigators said the plane left Fort Pierce, Florida for the North Georgia area, but they have not determined the exact destination. Baldwin police said they received a 911 call at 12:02 a.m., indicating a plane had crashed in a wooded area near a mobile home park close to the airport.

No one on the ground was injured, although Baldwin Police Chief Chad Nichols said the plane came close to hitting some homes. Identities of the victims have not been released yet, but the Habersham County Coroner should have that information later in the day.
