Pet Adoption Day Successful

Boggs Mountain Humane Shelter held a pet adoption day this weekend.

The event took place on Saturday in the area between Wal-Mart and Home Depot.

Danny Benson, a member of the Board of Directors at Boggs Mountain Humane Shelter, said that ten more animals were adopted Saturday than on an average day.

“Our average adoptions in Rabun County gets maybe four animals adopted in one day,” said Benson. “We had fourteen animals adopted on Saturday. We had tons of volunteers out there, supporting the shelter and the work that it does.”

As of Monday morning, Benson said that 42 animals remain in Boggs Mountain Humane Shelter. That number is down significantly from the 109 animals the were in the shelter when it was first closed.
