Officer Training Exercise at Rabun Co. High School

The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office and the Banks County Sheriff’s Office will conduct an officer training exercise at Rabun County High School on Thursday, July 28, 2022.  Residents should not be alarmed if they see multiple law enforcement vehicles at the school.  This is part of the School Resource Officers with Rabun County Sheriff’s Office and Banks County Sheriff’s Office teaming up to prepare for the upcoming school year.  Both Sheriff Nichols and Sheriff Speed are dedicated to school safety and ensure that all of their staff are able to attend as many training opportunities that are available in order to promote safe communities.  Each and every summer, dedicated officers spend their summer attending conferences and additional training opportunities in an effort to build successful relationships with youth, school staff, and the community.  Additionally, the School Resource Officers spend over 40 hours on the firing range, rain or shine, to remain proficient in firearms, building clearing, and incident response measures in the event of an active shooter.
