Notice of Qualifying for Tallulah Falls Council 

Qualifying for the upcoming election on November 2, 2021, for two seats on the Town of Tallulah Falls Council shall commence on Monday, August 16, 2021, at 8:30am in the Rabun County Elections and Registration Office at 18 Old Raco High Drive, Suite 105 in Clayton and shall end on Friday, August 20, 2021, at 4:30pm.  If no one qualifies for an office, qualifying will reopen on Monday, August 23, at 9am and end at 5pm on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.  Qualifying fee can be paid by check, money order, and cash (exact amount).  A pauper’s affidavit may be filed in lieu of paying the qualifying fee.  All persons who are not registered to vote and who desire to register to vote in the General Election may register to vote through the close of business on October 4, 2021.  The members of the Town Council shall serve for terms of four years and until their respective successors are elected and qualified.  No person shall be eligible to serve as mayor or town council member unless he or she shall have been a resident of the Town for six months immediately prior to the date of the election of mayor or members of the Town Council; each shall continue to reside therein during his or her period of service and shall be registered and qualified to vote in municipal elections of this Town.  No person related within the second degree by affinity, or within the third degree by consanguinity, to any elected officer of the Town shall be eligible for an elected or appointed office of the Town; provided, however, that a majority of the unrelated Council Members may vote to allow such disqualified person to serve as an unpaid volunteer filling a role on behalf of the town for no compensation or remuneration.
