No Fireworks-Related Fires in Rabun County

With the exception of a few weather-related calls, it was an uneventful holiday weekend for firefighters in Rabun County.  Typically, the Independence Day Holiday generates fire calls when fireworks get out of hand; however, Rabun County Assistant Fire Chief Justin Upchurch characterized the weekend as busy but with no firework-related calls.  “It was pretty busy, but nothing was really related to the holiday itself other than probably the increased population that we had. We didn’t have anything related to fireworks or fireworks injuries. About the only thing that we had to respond to was some of the storms that rolled through and some storm-related issues.”  Assistant Chief Upchurch said those calls involved alarms going off because of the storms rolling through the area over the weekend.
