NGTC Students bring Home State SkillsUSA Medals

North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) students brought home top awards from the recent Georgia Postsecondary SkillsUSA competition held in Atlanta. The NGTC SkillsUSA Chapter received a total of 12 medals representing various programs in the competition. Gold medalists included Photography students Riley Moody of Clarkesville, Ga., and Sydney Luiz of Fortson, Ga., in Television (Video) Production and Lauren Andrews of Cumming, Ga., in Photography. Culinary Arts students Carson Lofton of Jasper, Ga., and Ryleah Campbell of Copperhill, Tenn., claimed silver in Baking and Pastry Arts and Restaurant Service, respectively. Photography students Caitlin Flowers of Cleveland, Ga., and Elias Arrendale of Demorest, Ga., received silver in Television (Video) Production while Registered Nursing student Christian Ogden of Ellijay, Ga., claimed silver in Medical Math. Welding Technology students Brad Ayonon of Cleveland, Ga., Kaitlyn Crosby of Mount Airy, Ga., and Russell Dollar of Covington, Ga., earned silver in Welding Fabrication, and Welding Technology student Britton Bartlett of Cleveland, Ga., claimed silver in Welding. Students receiving bronze medals were Culinary Arts student Noah Casey of Clarkesville, Ga., in Culinary Arts; Automotive Collision Repair student Angel Santaclara of Cornelia, Ga., in Collision Repair Technology; Advanced Manufacturing students Gerald Barker of Eastanollee, Ga., and Johnathan Brown of Hartwell, Ga., in Mechatronics; and Practical Nursing student Britney Carter of Ellijay, Ga., in First Aid – CPR. Other students who competed and represented NGTC included Automotive Collision Repair students Francisco Hernandez of Alto, Ga., Elijah Garmon of Mount Airy, Ga.; Culinary Arts student Ramon Fuentes of Alto, Ga.; Elain Brown of Clarkesville, Ga., Connor Cochran of Peachtree City, Ga., Samantha Collari of Dacula, Ga., Emma-Rose Sarnowski of Flowery Branch, Ga., Melsawn Reid of Dacula, Ga., Erin Bladowski of Toccoa, Ga., Dre Bowman of Lavonia, Ga.; Practical Nursing students Presley Arp of Epworth, Ga., Jessica Skeens of Jasper, Ga., Ashley Logan of Jasper, Ga., Stephanie Pittman of Blue Ridge, Ga., Rebekah Glazier of Blairsville, Ga., Heidi Morris of Blairsville, Ga., Gabriel Summers of Blue Ridge, Ga., Scarlett Jack of Suches, Ga.; and Registered Nursing students Hannah Ritchie of Blue Ridge, Ga., Gracie Birmingham of Blue Ridge, Ga., and Trevor Couch of Mineral Bluff, Ga. “We are incredibly proud of the outstanding achievement showcased by our students in the recent SkillsUSA competition,” said NGTC Vice President of Academic Affairs Mindy Glander. “Their unwavering dedication, diligence, and pursuit of excellence epitomize the exemplary standards of our institution, highlighting the exceptional talent and preparation nurtured by our tremendous faculty.” SkillsUSA is a career and technical student organization that develops citizenship, technical, leadership, and teamwork skills essential for students who are preparing for the workforce and further education. Gold medal winners will advance to the National SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference and Competition that will be held in Atlanta June 24-28, 2024.
