NCIS Agent Fires Weapon During Drug Arrest

After a confrontation with law enforcement, two are arrested over the weekend, charged with manufacturing marijuana.

Saturday, an officer from the Department of Natural Resources and an officer from the Mountain Judicial Circuit NCIS came upon a marijuana growing operation near Lake Burton after receiving a tip.

Commander Kyle Bryant with the NCIS said that while they were standing there observing the grow, a man, identified as Gary Lee James Wall walked up and brandished a gun towards the officers, which led to a shot being fired.

“He turned it towards our officer, and our officer fired at him,” said Bryant. “After our agent identified himself, he didn’t put the gun down, he kind of turned it towards them.”

After attempting to run from officers, Wall was apprehended without injuries and charged with manufacturing marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of felony, and aggravated assault.

Another individual, identified as Walter James Bo Myers, was also arrested and charged with manufacturing marijuana.

Bryant says the estimated value of the plants is approximately $12,000.
