Multiple Charges filed against SC Man

A Belton, South Carolina man faces multiple charges after a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) call reporting that a 2003 Ford Taurus hit the propane tanks at Royal Gas Station and fled.  A deputy with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle on Georgia 15 at Duvall Ford in Clayton.  The deputy smelled alcohol as he approached the driver, 62-year-old Jessie Simmons.  The deputy also observed six empty beer bottles, an empty beer can, and an empty vodka bottle.  After failing field sobriety tests, Simmons was arrested for DUI, driving while license suspended, hit and run, removing or affixing license plate with intent to conceal, possession of an open alcohol container, failure to maintain insurance, theft by bringing stolen property into the state, and theft by receiving stolen property.  He was booked into the Rabun County Detention Center on the eight charges.
