Morphine in Rabun Leads to South Carolina Arrests

Two Salem, South Carolina residents were arrested in connection to a large amount of drugs in Rabun County, Says Rabun County Sheriff Frank Andrews…

“We had arrest warrants for Joey Liston Smith, and Debbie Lynn Jackson. South Carolina made the arrests, and this is a effort put together by South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia, so it makes three states working together, trying to combat the drug trafficking and the drug use in our area.”

The warrants spawn from a Traffic Stop in which 218 milliliters of morphine were found in the vehicle, the warrants were issued after a test of the substance was conducted by the GBI Crime Lab…
“Very serious charges, you know, and your talking the possibility of some severe prison time with this, and there will be some additional charges that are going to come forth with this as well.”
Currently, both 46 year old Smith, and 58 year old Jackson, face Trafficking Morphine charges. Also involved with the investigation is the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office.
