More Developments in the Mama G’s Fire

More developments in the business fire that took place in Clayton on Monday have surfaced.

After crews from the Clayton and State Fire Marshal’s office, and an independent fire investigator from Mama G’s insurance company spent all of Wednesday investigating the scene, Clayton City Marshal Scott Crane says that the cause of the fire is now known.

“We did come to the conclusion that it was an accidental fire, it was electric in nature.” says Crane, “it started in the walls in the bar area.”

When asked what will happen going forward, Crane says that the findings will now be turned over to Mama G’s insurance company, and that it is now a matter between the insurance company, and the family that owns the restaurant.

A fund has been set up at Rabun County Bank for the employees who lost their jobs during the fire.
