Millage rollback in City of Clayton

The Clayton City Council recently voted to roll back the millage rate.  This means no new property taxes, explains Mayor Kurt Cannon.  “We were able to do a rollback so that we didn’t have to have hearings or do tax increases on taxpayers by rolling that back to our allowable limits, which makes it better for the taxpayers, especially in the time we’re in where it is pretty difficult, everything is costing more.  We also did several things in our budget to try to streamline and make things better for the City in the future.”  Even though there were no increases in property taxes, the digest is increasing because property values in the City have increased dramatically since the last fiscal year.
