MCSO seeks suspect who fled arrest

From WNCC, Franklin, North Carolina

The Macon County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a suspect who fled after officers attempted to serve multiple felony warrants on him.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, officers learned the suspect, Caleb Hunter, of Franklin, was inside a local business in Franklin.
Deputies Cpl. Scott Nelson & SRO Patrick Merit responded and went inside and located Hunter. Initially Hunter was cooperative and was holding his toddler. A few moments later Hunter set the toddler down and immediately fled through the business and out back door. Deputies chased Hunter outside and through the parking lot of Wendy’s restaurant. Hunter then crossed 441 and disappeared as he entered the woods running toward the river. Additional units responded.
The Sheriff’s Office says Hunter was not immediately handcuffed was because Deputies didn’t want to upset the baby or make a scene in front of all the children inside. When the foot pursuit took place another deputy and employees of The Factory came to the aide of the child. DSS was immediately notified by deputies on scene and the child was later turned over to the custody of family members.
For several hours Deputies continued searching with K-9 units and officers with the Franklin Police without any success.
If you see Caleb Hunter or know where he is or if anyone is assisting him, you’re asked to call 911.
Anyone found assisting him will be prosecuted.
