Man Shot in Clayton

A man is apparently shot in the downtown Clayton area Sunday night.

According to information given by Clayton Police Department Assistant Chief Andy Strait, officers, as well as deputies with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fight in progress on Duncan Street, which is just behind the Clayton Post Office, Sunday night just after 9pm.

Strait said one man was allegedly shot with a 9 millimeter pistol during the altercation.

“It’s believed the unidentified male drove himself to Angel Hospital in Franklin for what we believe is a non-life threatening injury.”

Several witnesses and the alleged shooter have questioned.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Clayton PD with the ongoing investigation.
