Man Rescued from Tree in Habersham County

A man is safe after being rescued from a tree last week in Habersham County.

According to Clarkesville Fire Chief Jerry Palmer, a man, whose identity was not released, was working to take down a tree and was climbing that tree and removing limbs as he went up in anticipation of the tree then coming down.

Palmer said that when the man got about 55 to 60 feet in the air, something happened and he took the wrong limb, which caused the climbing tree stand the man was using to become dislodged and the man had to grab onto the tree in order to keep from falling.

Palmer said the man was rescued from the tree and safely back on the ground. According to Palmer, the man was not injured physically but was visibly shaken from the incident.

Palmer said the incident was a great example of teamwork between the Clarkesville and Demorest fire departments.
