Man Killed With Pellet Rifle

A Rabun County man dies after being shot with a pellet rifle over the weekend.

Rabun County Sheriff’s Office Chief Investigator Jack Tanksley said that on Saturday, the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office investigated an altercation between Furman Cobb, Jr. and Glenn Chastain that left Cobb fatally wounded.

“From what Glenn Chastain was telling me during the interview, they got into an argument and Mr. Cobb come toward him with a knife, and when he [Cobb] did he [Chastain] shot him with a pellet rifle.”

Tanksley says that at this time there is not a plan to file any charges, as it appears to have been self defense.

Tanksley says that the investigation is still underway as they are waiting for the autopsy results to officially determine the cause of death.
