Local law enforcement to participate in ‘Click it or Ticket’

Local law enforcement will be taking part in the state-wide enforced effort of the Georgia State Patrol and Governor’s Office of Highway-Safety “Click It or Ticket” Campaign.

The goal is to enhance awareness by enforcing the use of seatbelts during heightened holiday travel time in the hopes of preventing unbelted crashes, injuries and fatalities.

According to state troopers, last year 12 people died from not wearing their seatbelts in an accident occurring from the Thanksgiving to Christmas time period.

Law enforcement reports that if you buckle up in the front seat of a passenger car, you can reduce your risk of fatal injury by 45 percent and moderate to critical injury by 50 percent.

So remember while you’re out on the roads this holiday season, to click it or ticket.
