Life Sciences Manufacturer to create 1,700 Jobs in Athens-Clarke County

Governor Brian P. Kemp today announced that Meissner Corporation, an industry leader in advanced microfiltration and therapeutic manufacturing systems, will invest nearly $250 million in a new facility in Athens-Clarke County. The project will create more than 1,700 jobs over the next eight years.  “As the No. 1 state for business, Georgia remains a leader in a wide range of industries, including life sciences,” said Governor Brian Kemp. “We are excited to welcome Meissner to the Peach State where they will find a talented workforce and strong partnership with both the state and the people of Athens-Clarke County.”  Meissner is one of the world’s largest privately held companies in the bioprocessing sector. It develops, manufactures, supplies and services products and systems for the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries. Founded in 1984 and headquartered in Camarillo, California, the company operates globally and supports clients worldwide. Meissner’s product portfolio enables the development and manufacture of critical medicines in therapeutic areas such as oncology, cardiology and immunology.  The company recently played a leading role in the industry’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, providing critical products which enabled the development, manufacture, and distribution of numerous lifesaving therapeutics and vaccines.  Operations are expected to begin in early 2026.
