‘Life Flight’ called for entrapment wreck

CLAYTON During the early hours of Friday morning, a Clayton man and his son had to be pried from their vehicle after skidding off the road and colliding with a tree.

According to the Toccoa Post – Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Justin Douglas Webb, 35, was traveling west on Highway 76 East with his son Dominick Webb, 11, when he suddenly lost control of his truck and veered across the center divider of the roadway.

The black Ford continued to skid off the road, with the father and son still inside, before coming to a screeching halt after impacting a tree.

Multiple agencies arrived on scene at 7:25 a.m. where Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and local law enforcement worked to extricate the two individuals.

The young boy, Webb (11), was the first to be removed and was transported via Rabun County Ambulance to Mountain Lake Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries.

The father, however, was not removed from the truck until nearly three hours after the incident due to the seriousness of major injuries inflicted from the wreck.

A second ambulance arrived at the scene of the wreck near Pools Creek Road and transported Webb (35) to Beck’s Funeral Home, Clayton’s emergency landing zone, where a medical helicopter stood by ready to transport him to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

GSP has contacted relatives to inquire about the status of the father and child but no information has been relayed as of Friday afternoon.

Of the agencies to assist GSP were the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office, Clayton Police Department, Rabun County Fire Department and the Rabun County EMS.
