Lakemont Man arrested in Stephens County

A Lakemont man stands charged with possession of methamphetamine in Stephens County.  On June 10, a deputy with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Col. Robert F. Sink Trail to check on a suspicious vehicle.  The deputy was advised they were looking for a gold Ford passenger car with the driver possibly passed out at the wheel.  As the deputy was checking the trail, a gold Ford 500 passed with an inoperable brake light.  The deputy initiated a traffic stop on the trail.  As the deputy was speaking to the driver, identified as Timothy Leland, he saw the passenger, identified as 28-year-old Joshua Matthew Edmonds of Lakemont, slumped over the dash of the vehicle.  The deputy went to check on Edmonds and asked him to exit the vehicle.  After some brief questioning and a pat-down of Edmonds, a quantity of suspected methamphetamine was located.  The deputy arrested Edmonds for possession of suspected methamphetamine.  The driver, Leland, was released at the scene with a courtesy warning for the brake light violation.
