Lake Burton nearing full pool

LAKE BURTON According to Georgia Power’s lake level charts, Lake Burton is nearing full pool thanks to the recent amount of heavy rain north Georgia has experienced in previous months.

As of Monday, April 9th, Lake Burton’s elevation was 1863.07 (full elevation is 1866.60). This information comes nearly two months after Georgia Power pulled Lake Burton’s water level down three feet in February.

Georgia Power held the level for two weeks after the release. The drawdown ensured maintaining a safe lake level in order to avoid potential flooding.

With Lake Burton inching closer to full pool, the Lake Burton Civic Association (LBCA) advises that all individuals with property or membership regularly check to make sure that all boats, property, and construction materials are secure.
