Keep Rabun Beautiful hosting Litter Law Enforcement Workshop

With the aim to end litter in Rabun County, Keep Rabun Beautiful is hosting a free workshop on Thursday, July 1, says Executive Director Linda Scofield.  “It’s a huge blight problem for the landscape and costly to clean up.  Litter impacts our quality of life, destroying our county’s natural beauty, killing wildlife, and diminishing water quality.  It also hinders economic development, property values decrease in littered neighborhoods whereas clean communities attract family and businesses.”  The community is invited and encouraged to attend this free workshop, adds Scofield.  “We got a grant from Keep Georgia Beautiful for it and it is a Litter Law Enforcement Workshop.  It is being held at the Rabun County Civic Center and we are bringing together all the law enforcement agencies from across the county including the Sheriff’s Office and the Clayton, Dillard, Mountain City, Sky Valley, and Tallulah Falls Police Departments for training in litter law enforcement and reducing roadside pollution.”  Corporal Scott Carroll from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources will lead the half-day training exercise.  It starts at 8:30am and runs until noon on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at the Rabun County Civic Center in downtown Clayton.
