Jo Kimbrel named New TFS Girls Basketball Head Coach

Tallulah Falls School (TFS) has named Jo Kimbrel its head girls basketball coach, as former coach Lowell Hamilton will continue as Assistant Athletic Director, reports TFS Athletics. Kimbrel, the current Middle School Athletic Director, will take over a program that has gone to the state playoffs five times in a row from 2018-2023. Kimbrel has been the assistant varsity coach, head JV coach, and is currently the head softball coach as well. “We are thrilled to have Coach Jo Kimbrel as the next leader of our girls basketball program,” says Athletic Director Scott Neal. “She has the vision, work ethic, and demonstrated love of basketball and our girls to both continue and build upon a competitive program. Coach Kimbrel understands the unique fit of both day and residential life student athletes and the desire for each of our programs and all of our teams to Be GREAT! We believe in Coach Kimbrel and our upcoming girls to unite, be competitive, sacrifice individual for the team, and work in unison for seasons of significance.” Kimbrel will have a team that features rising seniors Breelyn Wood, Haygen James, Millie Holcomb, and Marian Nino, rising juniors Lia Sanjur and Carla Guil, and rising sophomores Joanna Molodynska, LB Kafsky, and Gracey Eller. “I’m super excited,” exclaims Kimbrel. “I am in a great position, having been a part of the program for the last three years. With all of us knowing each other through expectations, strengths and weaknesses, I’m very grateful for those experiences and look forward to the future. That future includes seeing TFS transition to GIAA next season, which will come with new and exciting opportunities. “It’s going to be a fun and growing year,” adds Kimbrel. “We will be in probably the toughest region, with two teams playing for the title and another being in the Final Four, but that isn’t going to change the ultimate goal.”
