Jeanette “Jean” Moore Grist

Mrs. Jeanette “Jean” Moore Grist, age 89, of Toccoa, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019
at Stephens County Hospital.

Born November 27, 1929 in Atlanta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Noel Arvis and
Lilla Forrester Moore.

She was a member of the Toccoa First Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday
School Teacher, former president of the WMU, and a former choir member. Jean loved to
write poetry, read books, and sew. She was a former member of the Georgia Jr. Woman’s
Club, the Camp Fire Board, and a charter member of the Stephens County Auxiliary Club.
Jean was a devoted homemaker and loved taking care of her family.

Family members include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda G. Maxwell and David of
Watkinsville, GA; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lester “Jim” Grist, Jr.; her daughters,
Tereasa “Terrie” G. Harrison and Dana G. Purcell; and her brothers, Arvis Moore, and
Zane Moore.

Funeral services will be held at one o’clock Saturday, June 29, 2019 from the Chapel of
Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. David Ritcey and the Rev. Brett Sanders officiating.
Graveside services will follow at 3:30 pm at the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church
Cemetery, Dillard, GA.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Scott Harrison, Joshua Purcell, Eddie
Pethel, David Maxwell, Byron Purcell, Kevin Free, Daniel Keller, and Wesley Harrison
The Willing Workers Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 6pm – 8pm Friday, June 28, 2019.
Flowers are optional. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the Toccoa First
Baptist Church, 475 East Tugalo Street, Toccoa, GA 30577.
