Jack Lewis Tanksley

Jack Lewis Tanksley, age 67, of Clayton, Georgia, passed away on November 14, 2017 at his home.

 

Jack was born the son of the the late Esco Lewis Tanksley and Lola Payne Tanksley Smith in 1950 in Jackson County, Georgia.

 

Jack began his professional career as an officer with the Cornelia Police Department before transferring to the Rabun County Sheriff’s Department. He excelled in his duties and would be promoted to the Chief Investigator’s position with the rank of Captain.

 

Throughout his career, Jack’s duty to the people he was serving was always important to him. He enjoyed his work, and was dedicated to serving the residents of Rabun County for over 30 years.

 

His parents preceded him in death.

 

His survivors include his loving wife, Linda Tanksley; one son, Joshua Tanksley (Amber), of Cornelia, Georgia; one daughter, Rebecca Lowe (M.C.), of Clarksville, Georgia; one sister, Janice Parker (Lamar), of Cornelia, Georgia; six grandchildren, Jonathon Oxner, Justin Oxner, Jay Oxner, Jordan Lowe, Brianna Tanksley, Jack Tanksley; two step-grandchildren, Amanda Lowe, Krystal Lowe; one great-grandchild, Lola Oxner.

 

The family will receive friends on Friday November 17, 2017 at Beck Funeral Home from 6 until 8 PM.

 

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Saturday, November18, 2017 at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Cates and Mark Gerrells officiating. Burial will follow in Yonah Memorial Cemetery in Demorest Georgia.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Sid Weber Memorial Cancer Fund P.O. Box 485  Rabun Gap, GA 30568.
