Increased Fire Danger for Rabun County

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Northeast Georgia, including Rabun County for Wednesday, March 29, 2023.  There is an increased fire danger from 1pm this afternoon through this evening.  A dry continental airmass will continue to build into the area today. During the warmest part of the afternoon, relative humidity is expected to remain below 25 percent for 4 or more hours.  Without recent precipitation, fuels such as dead brush and leaf litter are dry. The combination of dry fuels and low relative humidity will result in increased fire danger in Northeast Georgia.  Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
