Increased Fire Danger for Rabun County

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Piedmont North Carolina, Western North Carolina, Upstate South Carolina, and Northeast Georgia, including Rabun County for Wednesday, March 8, 2023.  Increased fire danger is in effect from 10am through 8pm.  Very dry air will continue across the region today, with relative humidity percentages falling well into the teens this afternoon.  Meanwhile, brush and other surface fuels continue to dry out.  Although winds will be less gusty than yesterday, the combination of very dry air and fuels will increase fire danger across Northeast Georgia again today.  Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
