Increased Fire Danger

The National Weather Service reports an increased fire danger across Northeast Georgia, including Rabun County, in effect from 2pm on Thursday, April 20, 2023, through this evening.  Relative humidity values will drop to 25 percent for a few hours this afternoon across Northeast Georgia. Southerly wind gusts up to 15 mph can also be expected across the area. Low relative humidity and low-end wind gusts combined with dry fuels will lead to increased fire danger this afternoon and early evening.  Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution.
