Increased Fire Danger

The National Weather Service reports an increased fire danger in effect until 7pm Tuesday, April 11, 2023, for Rabun, Habersham, Stephens, Franklin, Hart, and Elbert counties in Northeast Georgia.  Continued dry air across the region today will combine with warming temperatures this afternoon to produce very low relative humidity values and increased fire danger. Expect the relative humidity to fall to 25 percent or less for several hours this afternoon. Although winds will be light, drying brush and other surface fuels will make it easier for fires to start and spread.  Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
