I-85 Widening Project opens Third Lane

As part of the I-85 Widening, Phase 1 project, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) construction partners opened the new, third general purpose lane late Monday, June 8, to motorists on I-85 in both directions between SR 211 in Barrow County to SR 53 in Jackson County. Work will continue on Flowery Branch Road Bridge over I-85. The I-85 Widening, Phase 1 project was the first Major Mobility Investment Program (MMIP) project to break ground.  Drivers are advised to obey posted speed limits and traffic control measures inside the project limits.
