I-20 Westbound Road Closure Status

Two Lanes Are Now Open on I-20 Westbound
Georgia Department of Transportation spokesperson Natalie Dale, briefed members of the media on the status of the I-20 westbound road closures that impacted motorists earlier today. Key highlights of the briefing and detour are as follows:
- Georgia Department of Transportation teams are on site and have begun inspection and repairs.
- Crews and contractors will begin removing concrete and excavating materials; running ground penetrating radar to inspect the stability of remaining lanes.
- GDOT plans to open as many lanes as possible by 5 p.m., today.
- HOV lane and adjacent lane will open no earlier than noon Tuesday.
- AGL was working under a utility permit when buckling occurred.
- At this time we cannot speculate as to when all lanes will be open.
Detour Information
I-20 westbound traffic is being diverted off the Interstate at I-285 (north or south). No traffic from either I-285 northbound or southbound is permitted to exit onto I-20 West
