Highway 20 Project Website to be updated with New Project Details

Updates to the Highway 20 widening project will be available to the public on the project’s website Monday, April 27. The website by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) provides visitors with a wide range of information about the project, including the latest changes to the plans, virtual tours, 3-D renderings of intersections, and more.  The concept has seen many changes since the last public information open house in 2017.  In an effort to keep everyone informed, the website features a comprehensive list of the changes to ensure that stakeholders understand how the project has evolved since the open house. Some of those changes include:  Revisions to multiple RCUT locations, Finalized intersection control for Bethelview Road and Post Road, Revisions to and additions of truck turn-around, and Revisions to multiple detention pond locations and sizes.  The GDOT and the Highway 20 Improvements project team continue to conduct business to advance project activities for the proposed Highway 20 improvements between Canton and Cumming while following all recommended guidelines from public health agencies. While holding a public gathering is not possible at this time, GDOT wanted to give the public the opportunity to review the project plans.  Visitors are encouraged to visit www.dot.ga.gov/SR20improvements for all updates on the project.  Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app. Our maintenance team members who repair roads and bridges and our project teams who oversee construction projects are continuing their essential work, while following sanitary work practices prescribed by health agencies to protect themselves and the public from the coronavirus, as are most state DOTs in the U.S.
