Hearing Tonight Concerning US 441 widening

A public hearing open house to discuss the Georgia DOT’s proposed project to widen US 441 in Rabun County is scheduled for today from 5 until 8 p.m. at Rabun Gap Nacoochee School.

The project will run from the five-lane section located at the northern limits of the City of Clayton northward to the five-lane section just north of the North Carolina State line for a distance of approximately 7.75 miles. The proposed widening and construction of a median would reduce congestion and enhance the traffic flow, while improving the operational characteristics and safety along US 441.

The Open House will be informal and the public is invited to attend anytime between 5 and 8 p.m. There will be no formal presentation. Rabun County’s residents interested in learning more about the proposed widening project are encouraged to attend the meeting and express their thoughts and preferences.
