Hazardous Weather Outlook for Rabun County

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the western Piedmont, southern foothills, and southern mountains of North Carolina, Upstate South Carolina, and Northeast Georgia, including Rabun County for Thursday, August 4, 2022.  Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop again this afternoon and evening. The main threats from the storms will be gusty winds, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, small hail, and torrential downpours. Some of the storms may become severe and produce damaging wind gusts that will knock down trees and power lines. Localized flooding cannot be ruled out in places where storms move slowly and repeatedly. The thunderstorms should diminish gradually during the mid to late evening.
