Hazardous Weather Outlook for Rabun County

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Western North Carolina, Upstate South Carolina, and Northeast Georgia, including Rabun County for Friday, July 29, 2022.  Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will develop again this afternoon and be capable of producing cloud-to-ground lightning and torrential rainfall. Some of these storms may become strong enough to produce damaging straight-line winds. In addition, localized flash flooding will be possible where storms train over the same areas.  A localized risk of flash flooding will accompany any thunderstorms that develop over the next several days. This threat could gradually increase in scope as soils in more places become saturated from multiple rounds of heavy rain and creeks and stream levels rise in response to continued runoff.
